Yamuna Rani, a renowned actress, has made her mark in the Malayalam Film and Television industry. Her acting journey began with the telefilm series ‘Basheer Kathakal’, directed by PN Menon. However, it was her performance in the television serial ‘Jwalayay’ that garnered significant acclaim. Beyond television, Yamuna has showcased her acting talent in supporting roles in films such as ‘Ustad,’ ‘Valyettan,’ ‘Pattanathil Sundaran,’ and ‘Meesamadhavan.’
Personal Life:
- Originally hailing from Pattathanam in Kollam, Yamuna was born in Arunachal Pradesh. Upon entering the small screen, she adopted the name ‘Yamuna’, replacing her original name, ‘Aruna.’
- Her father, Venugopalan Nair, worked as a PWD Engineer in Arunachal Pradesh, while her mother, Shathamma, dedicated herself to homemaking.
- Yamuna also has a younger sister, who is five years her junior.
Yamuna, the talented actress, embarked on her artistic journey in the entertainment industry through the telefilm series “Basheer Kathakal”. This production, produced by Madhu Mohan and directed by PN Menon, marked her initial foray into the world of serials. After three years as an associate with PN Menon, she transitioned to a lead role in the groundbreaking Malayalam serial “Manasi”. Notably, she portrayed the daughter of veteran actress Sukumari in this series before achieving a breakthrough moment in her career with the serial “Jwalayay”.
Yamuna further solidified her popularity among television audiences with her portrayal of Madhumathy in the serial “Chandanamazha”. Having successfully contributed to over 50 serials, she has now established herself as a senior artist in the television industry. Beyond the small screen, Yamuna made her silver screen debut in the 1999 film “Stalin Sivadas”. Since then, she has delivered exceptional performances in more than 45 movies, including notable titles such as “Ustad,” “Pallabur Devanarayanan,” “Valyettan,” “Meerayude Dukkavum Muthuvinte Swapnavum,” “Pattanathil Sundaran,” and “Meesamadhavan”.
