Early Life and Education
Ranjini completed her schooling at The Choice School in Kochi and graduated with a Bachelor of Arts in English Literature from St. Teresa’s College, Ernakulam. She later pursued a Master of Business Administration (MBA) abroad.
Career
Ranjini began her career as a child artist in the Malayalam film “Geetham” (1986). She gained popularity after winning the title of Femina Miss Kerala in 2000. Her breakthrough came when she started hosting the popular singing reality show “Star Singer” on Asianet, which she hosted for five seasons from 2007 to 2012.
She has also hosted several other shows, including the “Asianet Film Awards,” “Amrita TV Film Awards,” “Asiavision Awards,” and “Flowers TV Awards”. In addition to her television career, Ranjini has appeared in several Malayalam films, such as “Entry” (2013), where she played a leading role as a police officer.
Personal Life
Ranjini’s father, Haridasan, was an Indian Air Force personnel, and her mother, Sujatha, is a homemaker. She lost her father at a young age, and her education was supported by her grandparents.
Controversies
Ranjini has faced several controversies throughout her career. She was criticized by veteran actor Jagathy Sreekumar for her alleged fake Malayalam accent and for overstepping her boundaries as an anchor on “Star Singer”. Additionally, she was involved in a dispute at Nedumbassery Airport with a passenger who used abusive language towards her.
