Hima Shankar, also known as Hima Shankar Sheematty, is an Indian actress who predominantly appears in Malayalam films and short films. She has also directed and performed in many theatrical works. Born on June 2, 1987, in Kodakara, Thrissur, Kerala, Hima has made a name for herself in the entertainment industry.
Early Life and Education
Hima completed her schooling at St. Don Bosco Girls High School in Kodakara and Rajarshi Memorial Higher Secondary School in Aloor, Kerala. She pursued her higher education at the University of Calicut, where she studied Drama and Fine Arts, and later at Sree Sankaracharya University of Sanskrit in Kalady.
Career
Hima began her career as a theatre artist in 2006 and has been associated with leading theatre troupes in Kerala, such as ‘Abhinaya,’ ‘Theatre of Good Hope,’ ‘Niriksha,’ and ‘Janabher.’ Some of her popular theatre plays include “Sakharam Binder,” “Women Without Men,” “The Valley Song,” “The Lesson,” and “Oru Kathaanaadakam.”
She made her film debut in 2010 with the Malayalam film “Sufi Paranja Katha” and has since appeared in several movies, including “Yugapurushan,” “Apoorvaragam,” “Iyobinte Pusthakam,” “Ottakolam,” “Aaradi,” and “Himalayathile Kashmalan.” Hima has also worked in many short films and TV commercials.
In 2018, Hima participated in the reality show “Bigg Boss Malayalam 1,” hosted by Mohanlal. Her presence on the show further increased her popularity and visibility in the entertainment industry.
Personal Life
She is known for her bubbly and energetic personality and has a passion for dancing and playing with kids. Hima is also an avid animal lover.
Awards and Recognition
Hima has received several awards for her contributions to theatre and film, including the NP Abu Memorial Award in 2016 and the Jaihind TV Best Actress Award for “Kalpanthakalam” in 2016.
