Biography
Majiziya Bhanu is an Indian bodybuilder, powerlifter, arm wrestler, and dentist from Kerala. Born on December 1, 1994, in Orkkatteri, Vadakara, Kerala, she has made significant strides in the world of sports and fitness.
Early Life and Education
Majiziya comes from an orthodox Muslim family. Her parents are Abdul Majeed and Razia Majeed. She pursued her education at Iringal Islamic Academy English School and Orkkatteri Government Vocational Higher Secondary School. She later earned her Bachelor of Dental Surgery from the Mahe Institute of Dental Sciences.
Career in Powerlifting and Bodybuilding
Majiziya’s journey into powerlifting began in 2016 while she was in college. Initially interested in boxing, she switched to powerlifting after her then-fiancé (now husband, Nour Ahmad Kohan Alizaey) showed her pictures of Muslim women competing while wearing a hijab. This motivated her to compete while wearing a hijab.
She quickly made a name for herself, winning the Kerala State Powerlifting Championship and the Strong Woman of Kerala Award multiple times. In 2018, she won the Mr. Kerala competition, becoming the first competitor to wear a hijab at the event.
Arm Wrestling and Other Ventures
Apart from powerlifting, Majiziya has also excelled in arm wrestling. She represented India at the World Arm Wrestling Championship in Turkey in 2018 and secured the 6th rank.
In 2021, she participated in the popular TV reality show Bigg Boss Malayalam 3, hosted by Mohanlal.
Personal Life
Majiziya is married to Nour Ahmad Kohan Alizaey, and they have a strong relationship built on mutual support and encouragement.
