Adhila Nasrin and Fathima Noora are a lesbian couple from Kerala who gained national attention for their courageous legal battle to live together.
Early Relationship
Adhila and Noora met while studying in Saudi Arabia during their high school years. Their bond grew stronger, and they decided to pursue a life together after completing their studies. However, their families strongly opposed their relationship, leading to significant challenges.
Legal Battle
In May 2022, Adhila filed a habeas corpus petition in the Kerala High Court after Noora was forcefully taken away by her family. The court ruled in favor of the couple, allowing them to reunite and live together. This landmark judgment was celebrated as a victory for LGBTQIA+ rights in India.
Life After the Verdict
The couple now resides in Chennai, where they work for the same company. Despite facing cyberbullying and societal criticism, they continue to advocate for LGBTQIA+ rights and inspire others with their resilience.
