Biography
Sandhya Manoj is a Malaysian Odissi dancer, dance teacher, and yoga instructor. She gained fame after participating in the reality TV show Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 3 in 2021.
Early Life and Education
Sandhya was born on August 1, 1979, in Kuwait City, Kuwait. She spent her childhood in Kuwait and Saudi Arabia. At the age of five, she began learning Bharatanatyam and Mohiniyattam under her mentor, Parvathy Narayana Swamy. After completing her schooling in Saudi Arabia, she pursued her graduation in English Literature from India.
Career
Sandhya’s journey in dance began at a young age, and she has been performing on stage for over three decades. She has performed at various national and international events, including the Raindrops Festival, Surya Festival in Kerala, and Natyolsavam in Thiruvananthapuram. She has also performed for the Government of India and Malaysia.
After her marriage to Manoj Kaimal, a yoga expert based in Kuala Lumpur, she moved to Malaysia and became interested in Odissi dance. She joined the Temple of Fine Arts in Kuala Lumpur to learn Odissi and has been dedicated to the dance form ever since. In 2006, she traveled to Odisha to learn directly from gurus Durga Charan Ranbir and Ratikant Mohapatra. She has also attended workshops by Guru Padma Shri Madhavi Mudgal.
Sandhya has produced several dance theatres, including Shakthi Praleeyanam, Ardhnaarishwara, Padmanabha Daasa, Swati Thirunal Dashavatar, Dashamahavidhya, Prerna, and Ashtanayika Radha.
Personal Life
Sandhya is married to Manoj Kaimal, and they have two children, Sidharth and Shivani. She is known for her active presence on social media and her love for reading, traveling, and dancing. Sandhya also runs a yoga studio with her husband, Manoj Kaimal.
Since her appearance on Bigg Boss Malayalam Season 3, Sandhya has continued to be active in the dance and yoga communities. She regularly performs and teaches Odissi dance and yoga, sharing her passion and expertise with others.
